What's NEW in my wedding world...

March 2008
I'm in contact with the casting director for The Learning Channel.  They are a new wedding related show called, "FIRST DANCE".  The basic concept of the show is that they provide a well known choreographer to the wedding party and they create a SPECTACULAR dance with the wedding party to surprise the guests at the reception.  Then the dance will then air on TLC's new show, "FIRST DANCE".  They are casting couples marrying APRIL, MAY or JUNE 2008.  They are casting nationally!  If you are a current contracted bride OR wish to be, please contact me directly and I will be glad to give you more info. Here is a youtube example of the shows concept:

I am a supporter of Finding the Cure for Breast Cancer.  IBC, Inflammatory Breast Cancer, took the life of my young aunt, after only 22 months since the diagnosis. She died just a few weeks ago, on March 16th, 2008.  Coincidentally, the week after her death, I received an email from a past bride of mine who had read in my blog, how to support the cause.  Here is her email.

Dear Georgia,
I just wanted to send you a quick e-mail and let you know that I was browsing your website last week and saw a link for Making Memories that was posted awhile ago.  I checked out the website because I've been interested in doing something "useful" with my wedding dress lately

I kept putting off getting the dress preserved so I could put it in a box and shove it under my bed.  I've been having such an aversion to this that I knew I had to do something else with the dress.  So coincidentally, Making Memories was in Tampa this weekend at the Westshore Marriot.  I went and donated my dress on Saturday, and am really happy to have done so.

Thanks for posting that link on your website.  I never would have known about this organization otherwise – and I know it was meant to be for me because I learned about it just 3 days before they came to Tampa.  The timing was great J

Thanks,

Desiree

January 2008
I use Farmers Almanac for many weather related issues. Most recently, I saw that they are looking for the soggiest, coldest, and WORST WEDDING WEATHER for their new official contest! If you know of any bride/groom that may qualify..go to www.farmersalmanac.com to learn more.  The winner gets a great cruise!

Another reason to have a Full, Day-Of, or Month-Of Planner....just recently I have had several inquiring brides that have started to complete their own timelines for the day, detailing the set-up, and decisions on what they need.  Some do a great job and some really struggle with this. But, even with the brides that are thorough, they miss some HUGE points.  They find themselves spending hours on figuring out these vital tools, when that is what they could hire me for.  In effort to: NOT waste your videographer or photographers photo time that you pay for, NOT to over pay for transportation hours, NOT to MISS important to-do's, and avoid doing things you should not do - please hire a planner. I hate seeing brides make these mistakes. It is almost like I have a crystal ball and can see the problems about to happen. Whether it is me or another EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONAL, get help!  You can hire me for a simple brainstorming (2-hours of advice and direction, validation), all the way up to full planning, and packages in between. It is worth it's weight in gold!

October 2007
Today, I received an email from an out-of-state, past bride that I wanted to share with everyone. Although she did not hire a Wedding Planner, or a Day-Of Planner, we have kept in touch. Read the email I pasted below. ANOTHER reason to hire a professional to help you...

"I just got married October 6th. My fiance and I planned every last detail and I can see now more than ever how valuable your services are to brides. Planning your own wedding is NOT what any bride should do. It did turn out beautiful but neither one of us barely got to enjoy it because we were working so hard.

To make my story complete, the worst of the worst happened. My photographer, who I had a contract with of course, forgot the date of my wedding and moved to Ohio. I found out an hour and half before she was supposed to be there that she was not coming. It was the most horrifying thing that I can ever imagine going through on a day that is supposed to be so special. There are more details to this story which I won't even begin to touch on.

My question for you is, do you know of any legal services that you would refer me to?"

I was able to refer her to someone, so hopefully she will get some resolve. If you are reading this, and contemplating hiring a Day-OF Planner, consider this... I once had a photographer fall ill, he called me prior to the event. I was able to call a reliable photographer collegue who was able to show up and help at the last minute. Only an experienced professional could help you in a dilemma like this.

September 2007
A new wedding dress trend is spreading quickly. The "Trash The Dress" photo shoot has become quite popular with my past brides.  I have just introduced a "mini" package for any of those women who want to have a blast in their wedding gowns!

Your wedding has past, the dress is in box.  Will you pass it on? Are you really going to save it?

Did you know - 90% of gowns that get saved, end up being sold, donated, or thrown out within 10 years of the marriage?

How does it sound to put your wedding gown back on, this time to have fun, release the energy and the true YOU?  Get your hair and make-up done, and this time let the emotional stress out, that you remember having on your wedding day.

No poses, no canned shots, no organized formalities- just real fun. Be yourself while you “trash” your dress in this fabulous photo shoot that we have created for you!

This professional, artistic photo shoot will be provided to you and your husband (if so desired), all in your wedding attire. No need to worry about shoes, hair pieces, jewelry, etc!

We have secured the perfect, private location to capture amazing images.

For a cost starting at $800 you will receive:

·         A Professional Photography Session. (Your local photographer is one that is featured on the popular www.trashthedress.com site.)

·         Use of this private, multi-million dollar property; featuring over 100 feet of lake front, white sand, lake side beach, docks, orange groves, hay fields, water fountains, and 3 other surprise features!

·         Chilled champagne while you shoot.

·         On site coordinator to help with any of your person needs through the shoot.

·         All edited images on CD for your use.

·         And an experience to remember for a lifetime!

All photo shoots will be scheduled for weekday shoots.  Shoots at any other time will require a custom quote.  Want to know more? Feel free to call me!

In addition, a portion of the proceeds (from myself and the photographer) will be donated to Breast Cancer Awareness. Breast Cancer has hit my family.  My dear aunt is battling Inflammatory Breast Cancer, a rare and extreme form.  This is just one of the many things I am doing in support of Finding The Cure.

September 2007
The heartrending cost in human life is staggering. In America alone, one person receives a diagnosis of breast cancer every 2 1/2 minutes, while every 12 minutes someone loses his or her battle against this disease. It's time for the wedding industry to get involved in supporting this cause!  Another way to support Breast Cancer and it's related fundraisers is to donate your wedding gown to BRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER.  There is a website dedicated to this. Please go to www.makingmemories.org to find out how you can help.

August 2007
Every so often I have very unique experiences at the weddings I work. This month, I had a wonderful time with Sherer & JP. JP, a Naval Officer, along with his friends, danced all night. Most of the officers were going back on the ship that next day. They just did not want the night to end. Later in the evening, the bride was serenaded with a new version of "You've Lost That Loving Feeling". Congratulations to the new couple, and a huge "thank you" to these officers that are serving for us.
